SEAHORSE SWIM, East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club are organising an open water swim across Studland Bay, near Swanage on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, in conjunction with the National Trust and in support of the Studland Seagrass & Seahorse study group. The swim will be held in affiliation with the BLDSA, although wetsuit and non wetsuit competitors can enter. Start: from Knoll Beach, Studland peninsula. Distance: 3.8km. Registration: from 8.00am. Start Time: 10.00am (briefing at 9.15). Entry Fee – 20 pounds, Trophies for male and female swimmers in each category. Entry packs with all information, including directions, maps, course details, and accommodation, will be available to download from our EDOWSC website from mid-February. www.edowsc.org. The BLUE Mile is a mass-participation, open water sports event designed to engage people actively with our blue environment. The event aims to encourage people to take part by completing a BLUE Mile either 'In' (Swim), (paddle/Sail), (Walk/Run)

The inaugural BLUE Mile event will take place in Plymouth Sound/West Hoe Park, Plymouth, Devon over the first weekend in July 2010 (Saturday 03rd and Sunday 04th of July 2010). Although this is a multi-sport event, the focus is on the BLUE Mile, one mile swim and therefore, I am writing to see if you would be willing to add our event to your 2010

Sea Swim South Devon. at 2pm, two hundred swimmers will face the sea off Teignmouth Beach in this one mile sponsored swim. Rowcroft, Torbay and South Devon’s hospice, is proud to be planning this event working with, amongst others, the Teignmouth RNLI, British Red Cross and the local life saving club to ensure this unique event is safe as well as enjoyable. The funds raised from this event will go directly to those who are living with terminal illnesses and need Rowcroft’s specialist support and care. Entry is just £10 per person and swimmers will be asked to raise as much sponsorship as possible for the hospice. Swimmers will receive a Sea Swim South Devon swim cap, a medal and something warm to eat after the swim.

The BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal - aiming to raise more than half a million pounds towards the purchase of a brand new helicopter for the county. "Swim in the wake of the Queen of Crime! Join us for this glorious one mile swim hugging the coastline of Paignton in Devon, between the beaches of Goodrington and Broadsands. The swim will take place on Sunday 19th September 2010. The Wales Swim - anyone willing to swim on behalf of the RNLI it is a £15 registration fee, and then we are asking people to try and raise a minimum of £75 sponsorship money which will help towards ensuring our volunteer lifeboat crews can continue to save lives at sea.
